It always saves a lot of time knowing the kind of picture you want to create.
The moment I met with CT actress Margaret Buzak to take casual portraits at Southport diner, there was a bit of pressure to work quickly, so already having a vague idea of the pictures we wanted came in very handy by the time we were ready.
The plan was to create dynamic portraits that would go along with some of the design elements in the place. Overall, we spent no more than 30 minutes taking these portraits in ambient light without using any modifiers.
Being sympathetic to other people’s time and their limitations can be an incredible asset to stay focused. Besides, the few instances I worked under a little pressure have taught me a thing or two to become more responsive with the camera; and that in itself, is a huge time saver.
