Immediacy, instant gratification and pressure to be good is pushing creativity down the drain. Granted, having access to new media and technology has helped creative people bring their work to the forefront, but it’s difficult to identify those who strive to share something new from those who simply want to get more likes and shares.I don’t intend to point a finger on who’s right or wrong, but as someone who tries to take the creative process seriously, what works for me is to focus on those who position themselves in the first group. After watching this documentary about Andrew Wyeth some time ago, I was immediately impressed by his determination to be play by his own rules and felt somewhat connected to his private traits. With that said, I don’t wish to claim that real artists should live under a rock, but I think being surrounded by so much distraction makes it nearly impossible to add substance to any creative ventures.
