I've always loved how rain sets me at ease and how it also makes me excited to see reflections, color or textures taking a new life. Not having to rush around when I heard that the weather forecast was calling for rainy weather was a great opportunity to take a photo walk. The place I was attracted to is the south side of Stamford, CT. Seeing those nearly demolished buildings with their beautiful brickwork just got stuck in my mind.
My major obstacle on this occasion was dealing with some wind factor or about 5-10 MPH, which would not have been such a big deal if my camera was weather sealed, but it’s not. Controlling an umbrella on a windy day and not having proper footwear did not prevent me from having a blast taking these pictures, which lasted a little over an hour.
The portraits I shot of Francisco as he was doing his laundry is probably my favorite set. I caught sight of him through the vinyl letterforms in the window. Adding portraits to a photo walk make it even more meaningful and approaching people in the street is something with which I’m beginning to feel more comfortable..
