I try to pay more attention to textures around me each time I get a chance to grab my camera.
Usually, the only time I have available to go out for a photo walk is in the morning hours and I try to take advantage of that quality of light before noon kicks in, occasionally I also set up a still life just to fight boredom and amuse myself with how things reflect different adjustments to the light source.
Overcast light is by far my favorite simply because it makes it easier for my eyes to find intricate details that otherwise, might get lost in the highlights. By doing that, I realize I remain engaged and more interested in learning to see as well as becoming familiarized with the exposure triangle. When I go out to take a photo walk or scout for a photo shoot location, I don’t intentionally go out looking for textures per sé, but it’s definitively something I frequently have in the back of my mind.
